I need a William icon.

I had gone into the film with a bit of worry. I had heard really bad things from the few people who got to see it on opening day and the critics were being assholes toward the movie.

I should have known I would have loved it since they hated it.

Keep in mind, I have no problems with Dead Man's Chest. I love that movie. It isn't as good as Curse of the Black Pearl, ofcourse it isn't. But I still think it was a decent sequel.

So...what did I think of At World's End? Well to be honest I loved most of it. Ofcourse there was somethings I wanted to get rid of, but over all I was content.

The Good

1. William Turner - I've never been a fan of Will. I always thought he was kind of girly and whiney. In the first two films I more or less ignore his presence. But in this one? I walked out of the movie with him as my favorite character (of that film, Lizzie is always the favorite). It was odd for me. But he was truly amazing during the entire film. He seemed to have changed coat on every other character, including Elizabeth, but ended up saving the day.

I loved the bit when he was in Beckett's office drinking tea. He was so sarcastic, so amusing, and so damn sexy.

2. Hector Barbossa - I missed him. I think he's what really makes the Pirates movies. Not Johnny Depp, not Orlando Bloom, not Keira Knightley. Geoffrey Rush is the one who really makes them amazing. And it was nice seeing him back in action once again. The squabbles he had with Jack were hilarius and I was really rooting for him as Captain fo the Black Pearl once again. I hope he manages to catch up with Jack and steal back the map, so he can reach the Fountain of Youth.

3. Elizabeth Turner - That's going to take some time for me to get used too. Oh well. Elizabeth was the main character in this one, much like Dead Man's Chest. It was nice seeing her out witting the boys the majority of the movie, while still seeming in character. For the first time in the trilogy I felt that she really should be with Will (possibly because I'm sick of Jack) and was more than ecstatic when they got married at the end. But yeah...Elizabeth had everything in this movie. Being Barbossa's right hand 'man', Captain of the Empress and then Pirate King.

Not bad for the daughter of a Governor, aye?

One of my favorite Elizabeth parts was right at the begining when she was pulling out the half dozen guns.

4. The Wedding - I wouldn't have had it any other way. Elizabeth in the white gown simply wouldn't have worked for me and would have been a great dishonor to her character in retrospect. I love Barbossa being the one who wedded them too, all while they were having a wonderful sword battle.

5. Beach Sex - Because it made me giggle.

6. Flowing Better than DMC - Even though I love DMC, I will admit it feels overly long and a good chunk could be cut from it. There is alot that henders the story in that film. Thankfully this one only has a little that hinders the story and flows rather well the whole way through (with one exception).

The Bad

1. Nearly 3 Hours Long - I like Pirates. I don't mind length. But it didn't need to be this long. The time could have been shortened if they just got rid of some very simle things...alot of which I list down below. And plus it sucks if you drink a 50 oz soda during the first hour of the movie...you'll regret it the last hour.

2. Multiple Jack Sparrow's - I'm just...really sick of him. Sure he had a few good moments, but over all I didn't care. I actually liked the movie the best when he wasn't on the screen. But too make it worse...there was dozens of him at once.

I realise he was going kind of crazy. But it felt kind of out of place and childish. I would have understood that he was crazy if he was simply talking to himself without actually...talking to himself.

And then the little Jack Sparrow concious things? I DON'T NEED TO SEE THEM! I know he debates choices over and over. I was half expecting one of them to have a pair of angel wings and the other a devil's tail. It was just...bad.

I'm pretending it wasn't there.

3. Teague Sparrow - Yeah...I was more than pissed with him. It felt like "Oh! Let's throw in some pointless character just to apease Johnny Depp!" He served no purpose. He guarded a flippin' book. Yeah...what a wonderful life for Daddy Sparrow. I liked picturing him as a wonderful pirate that died when Jack was very young. That's how I always pictured it...and instead the guy guards a BOOK?!? And plays a guitar? And carries his wife/mate thing's shrunken head around?

Not too mention you couldn't understand a word he said and it wasn't apparant to half the audience that he was Jack's Dad. Hanna was doubtful and had to lean over and ask me.

4. Attack of the 50 Foot Woman - I can stand Tia Dalma if I try really hard. I think she's kind of annoying with her voodoo routine and out of place swamp home. But she was difficult to bare in this film. And then when she was released from her human form, becoming Calypso, and became the 50 foot woman...I stopped taking it seriously. For one split second. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms.

It was just so stupid.

And then she turned into crabs. And that was it. I think she would have started out by trying to sink Davy Jone's ship if at all possible since he was the one who scorned her.

5. James Norrington - I love James. I love him so much. He's my second favorite character of the entire series. He was never a villian and I've never quite understood why a large mass of the fandom hates him. He was only doing his job in the first film and in the second one he had fallen from grace. But in this one...he got little screentime. Fine...I'll deal with it. But right when he was finally doing something wonderful, helping Elizabeth back to the Empress, the writers decide to be assholes and kill him off. By fucking BOOTSTRAP TURNER?!?! That was even more of an insult becuase of my large hate for Bootstrap Turner. I'm bitter about this and if they dare make a Pirates 4 (which I'm not sure if I want them too or not), they better find a way to bring Norrington back to life. Espicially if Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley aren't going to be in it.

But atleast he got the hot kiss with Elizabeth. Atleast I have that.

5. Bootstrap Turner - He was one of my major complaints from the second film, so this shouldn't be much of a surprise. I wish he would have just been dead and never introduced. I don't care if he gave William something to strive for and a goal. I fucking hate him.

AND HE KILLED NORRINGTON FOR NO GOOD REASON!

6. Pirate Lords - They were...kind of pointless. They didn't do much in the big sea battle and at the council, it was Elizabeth who made the final decision. So...yeah. Pointless.

And that's all I got too say. I strongly suggest that everyone who likes Pirates go see At World's End. It is definitly the better of the sequels. And not to mention, Orlando Bloom is amazing in it and so is Keira Knightley.

And don't forget to stay until after the credits! It's worth the time!

Emmy's Official Rating - 9/10 stars.
